YAKKUM Bali is dedicated to improving the quality of life of people with physical disability” YAKKUM Bali identifies, defines and advocates the needs of persons with physical disabilities, and plans and implements strategies to meet those needs. YAKKUM Bali provides information and education to persons with disability and their families, educators, employers, the medical community and the general public in order to further their understanding of disability and the needs of persons with disability and to increase the community’s responsiveness to those needs.

YAKKUM Bali assists people with physical disability to obtain diagnosis, treatments and rehabilitation services so that they can establish their place in society as productive citizens.

YAKKUM Bali’s disability services program has served a total of 712 clients since 1999, including 700 people from the island of Bali itself and more recently, an additional 12 from outside Bali (East Java=3, Sumbawa=5, Lombok=2, Flores=2). Potentially more people from Eastern parts of Indonesia will be coming to Bali for rehabilitation with YAKKUM Bali over the coming years. According to the Bali Social Department’s data for 2008 estimates; over 30,000 persons with disabilities reside in this island with 11,597 being physically disabled.

Up to date, YAKKUM Bali is the only organisation providing complete services, with ongoing follow up to the physically disabled, covering not only the medical side of rehabilitation, but also education and vocational training. In order to be able to provide quality services it is essential to have strong sources of support and skilled human resources. YAKKUM Bali is becoming more widely recognised by the community, as is proven by the increase in client numbers, and in particular the number of clients who now seek out and contact YAKKUM Bali directly themselves
