We
chose Bali TV as our venue as it is a new and upcoming
privately owned station which the majority of Balinese
watch. I Made Tika was the producer contacted there.
It initially was to be aired on December 15, but wasn’t
put on TV until January 16 and 17 (they neglected to
inform us of when they were going to air it). We will
try and get it aired again in February. As this was
a humanitarian project, they aired this for free. A
DV - mini tape was made for this purpose.
The 15 second TV spots are aired daily at different
times. Four of the most popular programs were chosen.
These began airing on December 28, 2002 and will run
for a total of thirty (30) days. The cost for this was
paid for directly by USAID.
For TVRI Denpasar, we chose the interactive program
BAHTERA (a health program) with dr. Robert Reverger
and Made Sidia as guests. This was aired on January
8, 2003. They allowed us to show l5 minutes of the wayang
and the other 45 minutes were dedicated to explaining
about PTSD and how Sidia created the wayang. There were
four callers who rang up and the show ran an additional
ten minutes over. The response afterwards was quite
good. A number of people called up the TV station wanting
to know how they could get the wayang performed in their
area. A Betacam cassette was made for TVRI. |
