One of our donors, Rob Storey and his family came to Bali from Australia with school supplies and sports equipment. They are sponsoring three children in Seraya Barat and made a visit on Tuesday, June 3, 2008.
After a long journey from the YKIP office in Tuban to Seraya, they were treated to a welcome dance called Panyembrama by the girls and the boys presented Baris dance for them. The Storeys were mesmerized by the dance and remarked on how much the children could remember.

Th Storeys brought with them “snake” candies from Australia that they gave out to the children in Seraya. The school supplies handed out by the Storeys included a book, a pencil, and a perfumed eraser for each child. They gave the rest of the school supplies to the school in Seraya to be given to other children. For their three sponsored children, they brought a special gift: jump ropes. None of the children in Seraya had ever seen a jump rope before and tried their hand at it.

After the gifts were handed out, the Storey children played with the children from Seraya. Aileen, the oldest tried to do the basic movements of Balinese dance and then she showed tap dance to the children. While Aileen tried to practice Balinese dance, her sister Georgia played with the other children and taught them how to use the jump rope. The youngest Storey child, Kellem played soccer with the boys of Seraya. We all played together for quite a while and then we decided to visit one of the sponsored childs’ house, Ni Wayan Ariani. Ariani lives with her father, mother and two younger brothers and they all share the same bedroom!

After three hours in Seraya, the Storeys decided to go back to their hotel in Tanjung Benoa, and they will be back next year with sport supplies for two schools in Seraya Barat.
