| Handling and distribution
of medical donations (Status 17 December, 2002
– Ongoing)
Elizabeth Magson one of our members became (through
the crisis centre) the main contact person for the receipt
of donated medicine in the immediate aftermath of the
bomb. This has led to a position where we represent
the Donors on a committee established by the Governor
of Bali to ensure the medicine’s ethical distribution.
YKIP’s direct involvement has been to fund the
establishment of 3 warehouses at Sanglah hospital, the
development of an inventory control system, supply of
a computer and operator (a trained pharmacist) until
June 2003 and to fund the labeling and data entry of
the medicines (43,000 distinct items). Other organizations
have also been involved including; AusAid who supplied
consultants to assist with the establishment of the
procedures; IMC (International Medical Corps) who paid
for the drug testing; Wiwie Harris YKIP’s head
of Administration and the staff at Mitrais who have
worked very hard on this project; and of course the
entire donor list.
