Wayang Kulit Trauma Counseling
(working in conjunction with the Bali branch of the Indonesian Red Cross and Kanaivasu Foundation)

In 2002-2003, YKIP, working with USAID and UNICEF, funded the creation of a new shadow puppet play called WAYANG DASA NAMA KERTA. Embedded messages about the bomb and how to seek help for stress related problems were an integral part of this contemporary performance.

For the cleansing ceremonies at Kuta Square (October 30, 2005) and Jimbaran (November 4, 2005), this Wayang (the same story but with new puppets and some new characters and scenery) was performed to full capacity crowds. Brochures about the counseling services provided by Kanaivasu and the Bali branch of the Indonesian Red Cross were distributed at both performances. See Trauma Counseling for more details.
