Here a Book, There a Book, Everywhere are Books
We have put in six libraries in 2009 in Buruan, Batuan Kaler, Loh Tunduh, and Abianbase villages. Starting off with a small collection of books to see if the students will use them, and to ascertain which titles are the most popular, we will do continuing monitoring and add more titles if warranted.
The children put plastic covers on all the books as well as check out slips in the back, in some cases even help paint the colorful tables, chairs and bookshelves we provide. These libraries were funded by ALF, Penny Carver, Michelle and Dekok, and Carmen Doyle. You, too, can put in a library in Bali for very little money (under $1,000 US).
