Dayu Wiadnyani Manuaba, one of the ALF Uni sponsored students, held a book launch of THE SONG OF MY HEART, her bi-lingual book of poetry at the Four Seasons Jimbaran on April 21. Her poetry is quite profound and very heartfelt. The book is available at Ganesha Books in Ubud. Here's one of her poem from "Song of My Heart,"
They Say I'm Disabled?
My courage is hindered by my fate
Tears flow filling the river of my loneliness
I am thrown in the corner of my disappointment
Because they say I am disabled…
I want to greet the sun
I want to sing with the birds
I want to feel the wind touch my body
But they say I am disabled
I complain to my mirror
I bare my body before its honesty
I am cast into the corner of my regret
Because it says over and over: I am disabled
I pose a question to the world…
If the explanation can’t be managed…
If an awareness has never existed
That actually my ugliness is their perfection
Then who is in truth disabled…?
I or they…?
