After the ALF and LUMINA funded audiometers came to town, the ENT doctors were able to conduct hearing tests. But it turned out that the cacophony of soundwaves emitted by cellphones and the like were playing havoc with the results.
So engineer Nick Liem designed a soundbooth that is big enough for a bed and a handful of adults (doctors, parents, audiologists) to be in and which blocks out most of the offending soundwaves. Now the tests can be done in silent space and the children then referred to get hearing aids if they need them.
