Educational Bond

For the children whose parents were deceased or injured by the Bali bombing on October 1st, 2005.

YKIP supports 27 children from 18 families of the Bali bomb 2005. We have provided educational insurance policies worth approximately Rp 5.250.000,- or $500 each for 26 children, purchased from Allianz Education Insurance to help them continue their schooling. These can be cashed in when their child goes on to the next level (for example, kindergarten to primary). One of these children’s father, I Wayan Sudika was killed in the bomb. His daughter, Cantika (one year old in 2005) will be supported through Senior High School and on through university, funds permitting. One of the children from an injured family is already university-aged and was given a one-time Rp 5.000.000,- scholarship. COURTS and ALF paid for these scholarships.

Funds for the insurance came from PT. Courts Indonesia, Tbk, YKIP and the Quiksilver Charity Event donors with a total amount of Rp 147.765.014,- (Rp 59.882.000 for first period and Rp 87.883.014 for second period).

Note : In 2006, we found an additional 15 children of the 2005 bomb victims. They were added into the group and received our Education Insurance bond with approximately Rp 5.250.000,-/child. Only one child who lost her father by this tragedy will continue to receive scholarship funds from this program (if funds permit) as our policy is to fund those children who lost a parent.

Due to the ability of most of the injured victims to restart their job or business, education financial aids for these children has been closed. As of January 2008 we provide education support only for children from Bali Bombing 2002 and one child from Bali Bombing 2005.
