Overview Taufik Sinaga's Daughters

Taufik Sinaga went to Aceh from Bali as a volunteer to help the Tsunami victims. He contracted malaria and passed away, leaving behind a wife and three daughters. As an NGO worker, many of his friends got together and put on a fundraising evening at the estate of Linda Garland in Ubud, raising over Rp 60,000,000 for the education of his daughters. At that time (2006), we thought that the funds would be sufficient to cover all the costs for putting the three girls through Senior High School (SMA). But every year costs increase and we now only have enough funds to cover them through the year 2013 (we need funds until 2020).

The three girls all live separately; Putu Mareta Yastini with her maternal uncle (with whom she has lived since she was an infant), Kadek Putri Yastini, who lives with her maternal grandmother and Komang Kurnia Lestari who lives with her mother. Ni Wayan Sukerti, the mother, struggles to make ends meet by working in shops; the monies from the above fund are very much appreciated.

If you would like to help these girls finish their education, please send your donation to YKIP (CLICK HERE) and an email to info@ykip.org letting us know that these funds are to be earmarked for the Taufik Sinaga fund.
