THE DRUM FACTORY DRUM CIRCLE FOR KEMBALI STUDENTS IN ABIANBASE, KAPAL

Ed Balma’s Drum Factory (www.drumfactory.com) goes into the villages and schools and teaches kids about cooperation through percussive instruments, primarily fiberglass and wooden djembe drums. When Ed approached CEO Rucina Ballinger about doing it with some of the KEMBALI scholarship children, she jumped at the chance. Gusti Putu Sudibia, the teacher (with glasses and blue shirt) came out with two assistants to Rangki in Abianbase, Kapal where fifty kids from Grade 1 – 9 gathered for 90 solid minutes of hand pounding, heart-stopping rhythms. For most of the girls, it was the first time they had ever held a drum and they were exhilarated.

YKIP and the KEMBALI kids would like to extend a pounding thank you to Pak Edi and the drum factory crew and to Anak Agung Gede Putra Rangki for the use of the space.
