YKIP is deeply saddened by the devastating effects of the Tsunami of December 26th 2004. We have decided as an organisation not to attempt to get involved directly in the relief efforts (at least at this stage) and any contributions will be made by YKIP members on an individual basis. There are three organisations (to our knowledge) organising relief efforts for Aceh in Bali.
- The Bali Crisis Centre for Aceh - 4aceh-sumut.kcbtours.com this is being driven by YKIP's trustee Al Purwa and is largely working through Rotary.
- The Bali Hotels Association - www.balihotelsassociation.com they are working through Indonesia Peduli which consists of a conglomeration of Exxon Mobil, Unilever, General Electric, British American Tobacco and Asia Pulp and Paper.
- IDEP a local foundation - www.idepfoundation.org they are working directly and with organisations with a presence in Sumatra such as the Sumatran Orang-utan and Surfer Aid.
If you wish to contribute to relief efforts you may do so by looking at the donation details on the above web sites. Alternatively if you wish to donate through YKIP please do so in the normal manner noting that the donation is for Aceh. We will pass your donation through without deduction other that those made by the bank to one of the above organisations.
