12TH NGO COORDINATION MEETING

Sanur Paradise Hotel – 10 June 2003, 6:30 PM
 
  1. Minute of Last Meeting
    Rohman opened the meeting at 6:30pm by introducing the agenda and the minutes of last meeting, which were accepted.

  2. Attendance New Members and Organizations
    No new member.


  3. Database
    For detailed please, find the attachment of Status Report.


  4. Sub Committees

    1. Education
      BIWA said that they not involving the Education sub committee anymore. Because YKIP and already got much money for the program, so no need for BIWA to support funding again. But if necessary, BIWA will give some support if their fund is finished, may be for 2 – 3 years. Actually, BIWA do not know how is the progress in sub committee.

    2. Counseling
      IMC reported until this June, they already given some treatment for 128 of patients. For May are 55 of patients, and there are 26 of new patients. Also IMC still running the group teraphy counseling beside the individual counseling. Also TV Interactive talk show 2 times for this May, and 2 times of Radio Interactive Consultation, including 2 times of FGD.

    3. Medical Immediate
      Bali Hati reported for medical activities they have done as follow:
      1. Conducting a seminar talking about an ear treatment for bomb victim who felt something wrong with theirs (tinnitus).
      2. With John Fowcett Foundation doing the ear check up among 22 of bomb victims. There are 3 of them will get a treatment in Australia.
      3. Also with John Fowcett Foundation doing an otopedic check up. There were referred.
      4. For rehabilitation, in cooperation with Sanglah Hospital, already referred 2 of patients.
      5. Doing Eye check up among bomb victims, in coordination John Fowcett Foundation. Already referred 4 of patients to Indra Hospital and the result is 2 of them will get treatment in Pert – Australia.


      So, the total of patients treated are 101 of patients, 55 of them already closed, and 46 of patients still get some treatment.


    4. Medical Long Term
      Parum Samigita reported on YKIP website, there are some information of new list of other bomb victims they have been supporting, and need some support for the next long term. On the web mentioned how much the fund they need. And there are a lot of photos too.


    5. Environment
      Parum Samigita said there a need of a sustain program. It also related to economic problem after the bomb blast. There are NGOs concern on this such as WALHI, but they got some difficulties. That’s way in this meeting we need to talk about a coordination of how to get some fund for the program.

    6. Economic Recovery
      Kalimajari said they already done a research in collaboration with Yayasan Manikaya Kauci, and the result are:
      1. Security Issue, in 26 of sub regency the insecure condition already happen because of the people who lost their job after the bomb blast are back to their home village, and nothing to do there, so they got drunk most of the time.
      2. Politic Issue, related with the 2004 Election, sensitivity among the politic parties members are arise. There are too many of parties could make people confuse.
      3. Social Culture Issue, it including the education problem too, in Buleleng : an elementary school child could not able to continue his study because of the economic condition of his family. Also an health problem in Bangli : an health centre (Puskesmas) cannot operated because no equipment or other supplies supporting. It is already happened for 3 months.
      4. Ecocomyc issue, there are a change of gastronomi both in quality and quantity among all of community.

    7. From FPBB Munir said that already a lot cases of the terminating employee after the bomb blast particularly in tourism, but not all of them are reported to Depnaker.

    8. Public Awareness
      Betang Baithani Community reported there are agenda of event called “Bali Pasemetonan/Menyama Braya (The Brotherhood of Bali) on 10 – 12 October 2003. With the activity is conducting a choir from some church in Bali and other countries.


    9. Family Support
      Bali Hati reported until this time there are 59 of people were supported. Adopta handovers some of their task. Paying about 2,750 rupiah for each people from February. Each people were budgeted 550.000 rupiah per month and some of them are in Singaraja.

  5. Rekomendation / Others
    Some recommendation for this NGO Meeting :
    1. Need to share information via e-mail of what we are doing so for the coming up meeting we just discussing about what who should do, not what we have done.
    2. Need some coordination among NGOs – local or international to make more clear in taking responsibilities.
    3. Should there are a local NGO who will be an host of this meeting after IMC left.
